The Dying Craft Series

In 2009 a friend introduced me to an abandoned timber built fishing boat lying on the mudflats of an estuary. I spent 2 hours paddling in ankle deep sticky mud and drizzle trying to capture the weathered beauty of the peeling paint as it revealed the skilfully cut and fitted timber boards below. I returned to the area in the early part of 2011 and we discovered more old boats slowly decaying from which I have began a series of images entitled 'Dying Craft'. I have not seen a new boat built to the same method and now that is my challenge, to find out if this method of boat construction in the UK is a dying craft or there is hope that it will survive.
